Common questions
Freight forwarding, answered plainly
What is LJM Logistics USA?
LJM Logistics USA, Inc. is an international freight forwarder headquartered in Federal Way, WA, in the greater Seattle area. For over 20 years we have moved ocean, air, and trucking freight between Asia — Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, and Southeast Asia — and the United States, with in-house customs brokerage and drayage.
Is LJM Logistics USA the same company as LJM International or LJM Group?
No. LJM Logistics USA, Inc. of Federal Way, WA is not affiliated with LJM International (a New Jersey trucking carrier), Ljm Logistics LLC (a St. Louis trucking carrier), or LJM Group / myljm.com (a freight-audit consultancy). We are an independent, Washington-based international freight forwarder.
What is ISF (10+2) filing?
The Importer Security Filing — "10+2" — is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirement for ocean imports: 10 data elements from the importer or supplier plus 2 from the carrier, transmitted at least 24 hours before the vessel is loaded at the foreign port. We file ISF and AMS documentation in advance on every shipment we handle so cargo is released on arrival.
What is the difference between FCL and LCL?
FCL (full container load) means your cargo fills its own dedicated container. LCL (less-than-container load) means your cargo shares container space with other shippers — ideal for smaller shipments. We handle both, and operate an Asia-to-Seattle LCL hub with direct line hauls to six major U.S. markets.
